John died at the Ft. Delaware
Prison camp in 1863. He had enlisted in the 44th Georgia Infantry,
Co. E.
He was killed in the battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA and is buried
in the Confederate Cemetery there.
Jane appears on the

age 14 along with sisters Rachael (18), Mary (18), Sarah (20) and
brother Sampson (16). Since a lot of siblings are together
it's most likely that the "Sarah" listed is Jane and "Jane" is
probably Charity according to notes by Ron Toops. Also on the
census is 51 year old "Mary Brooks" who first makes an appearance
and who may be an aunt/guardian.
