My Goodrich ancestors |
01. Richard Goodrich was born abt 1616 in either Ribston, Yorkshire, England or Guilford, New Haven, CT. The book "The Goodrich Family in America" by Lafayette Wallace Case, 1889, page 350 mentions this Richard as "an original settler of Guilford." No parents are listed. He died on May 7, 1676 in Guilford. The same book shows he married Dinah on June 7, 1646. She was born in 1620. Children for this marriage are given as Bartholomew (9-3-1647), John (3-13-1650), Rachel (9-24-1653), and Elizabeth (10-8-1655). Note that Lydia is not listed among their children and one researcher I have contacted claims that Lydia was the daughter of Richard's unknown first wife. Note the birth date for Lydia (abt. 1643) would make her older than any of the children of Richard and Dinah and she would have been born before their marriage. Richard was the twelfth signer of the Guilford Plantation Covenant in June 1639. 02. Lydia Goodrich, daughter of Richard and an unkown first wife was born abt. 1643 in Guilford, New Haven, CT. On January 24, 1660 she married James Evarts, son of John Evarts and Elizabeth Bradley. I descend from Lydia and James' son John Evarts who married Sarah Crampton. |

The parents of Richard Goodrich are not proven but the majority of researchers feel he is either the son of: (Henry Goodrich and Jane Savile) or (Richard Goodrich and Muriel Eure), either of which would give Richard a royal lineage given the documented lines. I would appreciate any information that helps to prove Richard's parents. |
